Who We Are
The Coalition of Community Charter Schools (C3S) is a member-run organization of independent public charter schools in New York City. We envision a collaborative role for charter schooling as a vital part of our public education system. Serving students of all grade levels and backgrounds, C3S schools exemplify the diversity, innovation, and commitment to community that inspired the original charter movement.
While many associate charters with large networks, independent community charter schools represent the majority of schools both in New York and nationally. C3S serves as the 'connective tissue' that links these unique, autonomous models together.

To provide a collective voice for community-based public charter schools in New York City and to sustain a vibrant, high-quality independent sector that meets the diverse educational needs of all students.
What We Do
We support independently run charter schools by understanding their unique challenges and amplifying their successes.
Advocacy
We engage elected officials, ensuring they recognize that their constituents choose our schools.
Parent Empowerment
We train parents to be effective community members and advocates, providing them the tools to counter myths and speak with local officials.
Collaboration
We bring together stakeholders to share ideas, strategies, and resources, proving that the charter movement is a laboratory for all public education.

Instrumental in securing facilities reimbursement procedures, saving member schools millions of dollars in rental fees.
Hosted member events endorsed by the NYC Mayor’s Office, the NYC Department of Education, and the NY State Education Department.
